Tirupati temple is gloriously described by the Hindu Scriptures as the earthly location where Vishnu resides in the age of Kali ( five thousand years ago ). Once, Sage Brigu wanted to evaluate who amongst the Holy Trinity was the greatest.When he checked with Prabhu Brahma and Prabhu Shiva, he was not satisfied, so he went to Vaikuntha and kicked Prabhu Vishnu on his chest.Goddess Lakshmi was residing in the chest of Prabhu Vishnu, she felt insulted and left Vaikuntha and came down to the earth.
The temple is built in Dravidian style and is thought to have been built over a period of time beginning in 300 AD. King Thondaiman, Tamil ruler of the ancient Thondaimandalam, built the first temple in Tirumala Tirupati. The temple is one of the eight Vishnu Swayambhu Kshetras and the 106th and final earthly Divya Desam. In terms of donations and wealth, it is the richest temple in the world.
It is a common practice among the elderly to donate their hard earned money to the temple. Before having a darshan of the Prabhu, people of all ages make their prayers and share their heads near the temple premises. The temple administration has built costly facilities to assist people in making hair donations to the Prabhu.
The place where Prabhu Sri Venkateswara self manifested statue is located in the Sayantram is called Ananda Nilayam. In the Ananda Nilayam the beautiful idol of Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy is also present.The Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy acts as the presiding deity.
