The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile is the world's fastest operating system in its class, and the range of the missile system has recently been expanded by DRDO from the current 298 km to about 450 km.

Defense services are scheduled to conduct several BrahMos test fires in the last week of November against various targets in the Indian Ocean Region.

The tests would assist the defence forces, government sources told ANI, to further enhance the efficiency of the missile system.

The air-launched variant of the missile was used to arm an Air Force squadron in Tamil Nadu, Thanjavur.

The Indian Navy also carried out a test firing last month of the Brahmos missile from its INS Chennai warship to demonstrate its ability to target more than 400 kilometres in the high seas.
