Kollam Beach, known as Mahatma Gandhi Beach is a beach in the town of Kollam.Kollam Beach is one of three beaches with lifeguard outposts located in south Kerala.Kollam Port is one of the oldest and most important ports on the Malabar Arab Sea coast for the international cashew trade.The port of Kollam is covered by the Tangasseri Breakwater which stretches about 1.8 km south-south east of Tangasseri Point. Its exotic location and backwaters make Kollam Beach one of the most popular tourist attractions in Kerala.Construction work started on 22 June 2014 at Kollam Beach on a marine aquarium which was the first of its kind in the state of Kerala.
