The new EQC all-electric compact luxury crossover SUV has been introduced by Mercedes-Benz India at a starting price of Rs 99.3 lakhs. This is an introductory price and is only valid for the first 50 purchasers available in Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai , Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad, six cities in phase 1.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC is the first-ever all-electric car by the German automaker. The EQC is a GLC-Class fully-electric variant. Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its 'EQ' electrified brand on the Indian market in 2019. This was accompanied by the Mercedes-Benz EQC's public appearance at the 2020 Auto Expo in February this year.

The 2020MY Mercedes-Benz EQC400 is available only in the EQC400 4MATIC (AWD) avatar and is powered by dual asynchronous electric motors (one on each axle) rated collectively at 300kW or 402bhp. The torque peak stands at 760Nm. In 5.1 seconds, the EV is able to do a 0-100 km/h acceleration sprint. The top speed, however, is limited to only 180 km / h.

The flat panel displays for infotainment and instrumentation contain Mercedes parts,the cabin clearly looks techy and modern. The floor being raised slightly for the battery, the seat is a bit short, but with ample thigh support and a nicely reclined backrest, it is also very comfortable.



The EQC has a range of upwards of 450 km claimed. Although this is obviously a little ambitious, a real-world range of about 350-375 km can be predicted , and an eight-year battery pack warranty.
