The Google Play Music streaming app was forever shut down by Google. After that, Google's main music streaming service will be YouTube Music. The Google Play Music app allowed users to buy and listen to songs in GPM format, and there was an option to download MP3 music as well.

This decision is consistent with a previous announcement by the company that it will lose the possibility of buying and downloading songs globally from October through Play Music. Last month, the initiative went into effect in New Zealand and South Africa and has now been internationally applied.

Users of the Play Music service have three options for going forward. First of all, their song library can be moved to YouTube Music. Or they can continue to download the music that they bought. Or, users can choose to uninstall the Play Music library and forever lose access to the music. If users don't do anything until the Play Music application becomes inaccessible, Google will automatically uninstall it.

To welcome the users of Play Music, YouTube is adding updates and new features to the Music subscription.

In the Mobile Play Store, Google has disabled the "Browse Music" tab. The Online Play Store, however, still indicates a "Music store is no longer available on Google Play."
