After more than six months of coronavirus epidemic, which has infected more than 12 million people and killed more than 500,000 people worldwide, the clinical trials of the supposedly world's first coronavirus vaccine have been completed with success.


Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University in Russia has completed clinical trials of the world's first vaccine for the novel Coronavirus. Vadim Tarasov, the director of the Institute for Translational Medicine and Biotechnology, has confirmed the facts. The study highlighted that all of the COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials conducted by the Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology started on June 18.

 Alexander Lukashev, the director of Sechenov University's Institute of Medical Parasitology, Tropical and Vector-Borne Diseases, the aim of this stage of the study was to demonstrate the safety of the vaccine for human health, which was successfully done.

"The vaccine's safety is confirmed, which is consistent with the safety of those vaccines currently on the market," Lukashev told Sputnik. The developer 's approach, including the uncertainty of the epidemiologic situation with the virus and the prospect of scaling up production, Lukashev said, is already evaluating the further vaccine development plan.

Meanwhile, last month the World Health Organization had revealed Oxford's most innovative vaccine. It's expected to bed rolled out as soon as Oxford is in the third phase of clinical trials with AstraZeneca.
