Thirumullavaram beach is one of Kollam's two main beaches. The beach area is full of coconut palms that make the place a cool and peaceful place of silence. The beach is great for swimming and sunbathing and there are no hazard zones listed. The beach is linked to all major roads across the town, and the place can be easily accessed.

A large number of visitors are also attracted by the taste of local cuisine often flavored with coconut and spices such as cardamom, black pepper, cloves , cinnamon, and ginger. The allurement for tourists visiting here is a water hillock called Njarazhcha Para. The hillock can be seen clearly from the shore during low tides, about one and a half km into the sea. According to India 's Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMRFRI) 2018 study survey, Thirumullavaram Beach is one of India's 16 best kept beaches, topper from the state of Kerala.

Thirumullavaram Beach is very popular for performing the rituals of Karkidaka Vavubali. Thousands of devotees arrive on the beach every year to perform the Vavubali Tharpanam. This is one of the most enchanting beaches in South India.
